Black and Decker have numerous products in their line up. In this review, I’ll be looking at their wallpaper stripper steamer to see how well it performs.

Ease of Use

For anyone that ha stripped wallpaper before, you’ll know first hand just how difficult it is. This is where the Black+Decker KX3300T-GB Wallpaper Stripper comes in. This really is an easy to use piece of kit. It’s as simple as filling in the tank (which can take 4 litres of water), turning on the unit and away you go.

What I really about it is that the steaming plate on this is massive. This means that you can cover a larger area in a shorter period of time. When using this, you can get 60 minutes of continuous use out of the tank before it needs to be refilled. There’s no fiddly dials to use, and it’s really is a breeze to use.

Results

Just as it’s important to have an easy to use tool, the results also need to be spot on.

I’ve used this wallpaper stripper on various walls, each of which had wallpaper on them that was of differing quality. Likewise, they were of different ages, which can bring it’s own issues.

On average, I needed to hold the stripper to the wall for just over 20 seconds at a time. After this, it made removing the wallpaper with a hand tool extremely easy. It was as easy as putting a knife through butter. It was able to successfully remove not only the wallpaper, but the adhesive that stuck it to the wall.

I also used this on wallpaper which had been painted over. This can normally be a complete nightmare, but this dealt it extremely well. It did require a tad longer contact time, but  it made it infinitely easier than using a hand scraper on its own.

There was never a time that i used it that I wasn’t happy with the results. This is in part due to the heat it generates thanks to it providing 2400w of power, but I would also say that it’s down to how lightweight it is as well. The long hose on it does mean that for those that fatigue easily, the main unit can also be laid down on a surface and only the steam plate needs to be held.

Value For Money

So I’ve established that it’s very easy to use, and also the fact that you get brilliant results from it. However, we also need to look at the price. On average, it can be bought for £40-£45.

This is a very modest price and considering how well it works, it’s an absolute steal. If you had to factor in how much it would cost to have a professional come in and carry out the wallpaper removal, it would be ten times the price of the unit. Plus, they’d no doubt be using this anyway.

One thing that does need to be purchased though is a hand scrapper. This is true of any wallpaper stripper though that you need a manual hand tool to help remove the residue smoothly. Unfortunately one isn’t included in the box, so this could add on a wee bit extra on top of the overall price.

However, in spite of this, I would still highly recommend this wallpaper stripper steamer due to how well it works.
