Bosch Professional GO 3 Electric Screwdriver Review

I’ve covered this Bosch Professional cordless screwdriver as an overview elsewhere on the site, but in this review, I’m going to expand upon my thoughts a lot more so that you can decide if this is the screwdriver for your needs.

Ease of Use

With some other electric screwdriver, it can be a real pain to get the screwbits into it, and to stay in it. This isn’t something I encountered with the Bosch Professional screwdriver. The ¼” bits are easy to get into the unit, but when they’re in, they stay put.

Bosch have designed this with a special clutch that gives you 7 different torque settings. The benefit of this is that it means that for more delicate applications, you can dial this right down to ensure you don’t damage the screw, or the material you’re screwing into.

Changing the torque settings on the driver is as simple as turning the wheel at the top of it left or right.

With respect to charging times, it takes 2 hours for this. I’ve been able to get a few weeks of use out of it, with moderate use each day. You cannot however swap out the battery with another whilst it’s charging.

I also really like how easy it is to activate the motor. You can do this by pushing the button down to let this start, or you can push it again the screw head and this will also power up the motor. This is a nice touch, and not something other brands have considered.

Likewise, when you want to remove a screw, there’s a slider at the bottom of the screw driver that lets you put the motor into reverse.

Ergonomics and Performance

I’ve got quite large hands and this felt great in them. I’ve asked a few others to try this who have smaller hands and they agree that it also feels comfortable to hold for long periods of time. For me, this is just as important as the performance of the device.

I’ve had the misfortune of using uncomfortable screwdrivers in the past, but this isn’t the case with the Go 3. As mentioned above, you can push down to start the motor. This doesn’t require a lot of pressure, but I did find this to be a much better alternative than having to hold down a button for the duration.

I also found the performance of the screwdriver to be excellent. You really do feel the difference when you change the torque settings on this, and this gave me peace of mind that there would not be any damage carried out whilst using the screwdriver.

One thing that really impressed me as well was the LED light on it. This is really bright, and did a great job of illuminating even the darkest of spots. I used this in a cupboard to reaffix some shelves and it really did a fantastic job of lighting the place up.

One thing to note though is that this is not a drill and won’t act as such.

Value For Money

At the time of writing, the Bosch Professional Go 3 sells for just over £70. This may seem like a lot, however, as mentioned above, it is of excellent quality. Added to this is the fact that you also get a protective case with it, and also 8 different bits, as well as a bit extension.

It would have been nice to maybe have had some more bits in the kit. Having said that, the ones that are included in it are of extremely high quality. Additional bits can also be purchased from Bosch. One big bonus as well is the fact that Bosch have not made it a proprietary fitting. What this means is that if you’ve got other ¼” bits, these will also fit into the screwdriver.

Another thing to consider is the peace of mind you’ll be getting when using this. If for example you have a lot of jobs coming up that require using a screwdriver, you’ve got the peace of mind that this unit will not let you down.

There are of course cheaper electric screwdrivers on the market, but they won’t necessarily perform as well for you time and again.
