Scarification and aeration are two crucial tasks you really should undertake at least once a year on your lawn. Scarification is the process of removing dead thatch from the lawn, and also scoring the soil so that new grass can grow as well as allowing more nutrients into it.

Aeration is the process where holes are pierced into the ground. The benefit of this is the it decompacts your soil, allowing the grass roots to spread better and allows them to grow properly. Aeration can also help to prevent flooding in the lawn as well due to the soil being able properly absorb the water.

These require dedicated tools and as such, I have covered them at the handy links below so that you have all the information on what you need to carry out these tasks.
