Cordless Lawn Mowers are a great option for those that enjoy cutting their  lawn, and don’t want to be hampered down by a power cable. However, there are so many on the market with different features that it can be a total minefield on which one to choose, and it makes it difficult to decipher what the best cordless lawn mowers are.

As part of my testing over the past 18 months, I have tried numerous cordless lawn mowers. When deciding what the best ones are, I’ve factored in the cost of each unit, the build quality of them, how much you can store in the cuttings box as well as how long the battery lasts for.

By assessing all of these features, it has given me a robust opinion on what the best cordless lawn mowers are, and you can read about my favourite ones below.

Greenworks G40LM35K2X Cordless Lawn Mower

I’m a big fan of the Greenworks range, and I’ve written a comprehensive review about the G40LM35K2X elsewhere on the site. For me, this offers excellent value for money when you buy the kit that contains two 2Ah batteries, the charger, and the lawn mower itself. Of course, if you already have a few Greenworks batteries, it still wouldn’t hurt to have a few more in reserve.

The lawn mower is exceptionally well built, especially for one that is sold for under £250. I really like how easy it is to move around the lawn, and the wheels are of great quality.

In terms of cutting length, you can cut down as low as 25mm, or take the lawn mower up to 70mm from the ground to only take the tops off of the grass blades. I personally like to take the smallest amount off the top of the grass as possible, but that’s just my preference.

There is also a great 35cm width blade on the unit as well. The benefit of this is that you can cover much more ground in a shorter period of time. The 40 litre collection bag is also well built, and easily clips onto the back, and can also be easily removed. However, it is also secure enough that it will not come off during a cut.

I also really liked the mulching option on the lawn mower. This means that instead of collecting the grass cuttings in the collection bag, it shreds up the cuttings and then distributes it back into the lawn, making a perfect fertiliser for your lawn. If that’s something you’re looking for, this is a great option.

In terms of battery power, you do get 2 included in the box. Greenworks have claimed that you can get 400m2 off of the two batteries before you need to recharge them. I would agree with this, with me sometimes getting a bit less, and sometimes a bit more depending on how thick and long the grass is.

It is as 2 hour charge time for the batteries, so I do like to have them ready to go before I start the cut.

It is also important to note how well it cuts the grass! It does an amazing job in doing this. Each time I use it, I’m blown away with how great the lawn looks, and you would think it was done by a professional using a lawn mower that is several hundred pounds more than this costs.

One thing to note though is that this does not have a roller on it, so it you want stripes on your lawn, this isn’t the option for you.

This is a modestly priced, easy to use lawn mower with great battery life and definitely worth your consideration.

Worx WG743E.1 Cordless Lawn Mower

Worx have a lot of great tools in their range, and I really wanted to try out one of their cordless lawn mowers. I’ll admit that this is the most expensive one that they produce, but given the feature set of it, it is well worth the price.

I really liked how easy it was to move around, thanks to the high quality wheels that are included on it. It is a modestly weighted lawn mower, and I had no issues pushing this around for long periods of time.

I was able to get around the lawns tested in a short period of time with it having it having a 40cm cutting blade on it. I also really like that the blade goes right to the edge of the cutting deck, meaning that I don’t need to spend as much time trimming after this as I can cut right up to the fence.

Much like the Greenworks, it also has a mulching option, should you wish to use it. With respect to the collection bag, this is a great size, and can collect a lot of the grass before you need to empty it again.

I also found the cutting heights to be really good, with you being able to take up the height up to 80mm and take the lawn mower down as low as 20mm should you need to really scalp the lawn.

This runs off of two, included 20V 4Ah batteries (both are used at the same time), which can be recharged in about 1.5-2 hours. In terms of battery life, this depends on how thick and tall the grass is. There are two modes on this, eco mode and turbo mode. When using it in eco mode, I was able to get on average 400m2 before needing to recharge. When I was only taking the tips off of the grass, this lasted a lot longer.

When using it on turbo mode, I was able to get roughly 290m2. However, this was on  a lower cut. When the lawn mower was higher up and thus the cutting height was higher, I was able to get longer out of the battery.

I also really liked that depending on the terrain, if the lawn mower hits a tougher piece of grass and you’re on eco mode, it’ll give it a temporary boost of power so that you can get through it properly.

In terms of the cut from it, I was really happy with how well it cut the lawn. I also was really impressed with the roller on it. It created amazing stripes in the lawns that I tested this on, and gave a very impressive and excellent looking cut.

If you need a lawn mower that’ll give you an amazing cut, but also give you amazing stripes on the lawn, this is the option for you. One thing to note though is that if you read the reviews for this on Amazon, for some reason they have amalgamated the reviews for all of the different Worx lawnmowers, which can be very misleading as the lower priced Worx mowers aren’t of the best quality.

Einhell GE-CM 18/33 Power X Change Cordless Lawn Mower

For those that want a high quality cordless lawn mower, but at a low price point for a small to medium sized lawns, this offering from Einhell is an excellent option.

Much like the other two lawn mowers on this list, it comes with a charger, although it only has 1, 4Ah battery included in it. However, you can also use your other Einhell batteries on this, should you have it. This battery will cut up to 200m2 , although this will also depend on how long and thick the grass is. I have found that the charging time was just under 2 hours, so not terrible at all.

There is not a mulching function on this. Having said that, if you’re not going to use it, then it’s hardly a negative point and shouldn’t be held against it.

I would stress that this is for smaller lawns, with it only having a 30 litre grass box, and a 33cm cutting blade. This 30 litre bag is a great option for smaller sized lawns.

This does not have a roller on the back of it, but again, this isn’t a deal breaker. It does have 5 different cutting heights, with the lowest being 25mm and the highest being 65mm.

In terms of being able to move it, I found it very easy to control each time that I used it. At no point did this feel like a cheaply made lawn mower. On the contrary, I was actually surprised that this wasn’t more expensive than it actually is.

This lawn mower is a seriously impressive unit. I love how well it cuts the lawn, and every time I use it, it gives an amazing finish. Even better is the fact that it comes with a 3 year warranty (when registered with Einhell), giving you peace of mind for several years to come. For those that don’t want to spend the Earth on a lawn mower, this is the option for you.
