Hi, I’m Stewart and I’m the founder and owner of The DIY Enthusiast.

DIY has been a true passion and hobby of mine for a long time now with the journey starting for me in 2006.

It started out with a simple lawn renovation; the lawn of a friend hadn’t been maintained and I stepped in to assist with it. This was simply to try and save my friend money.  It paid off, and the lawn looked amazing afterwards. This was in the days before YouTube, and lawn renovation information on the internet was sparse. Regardless, we persevered and made the lawn look great.

After this, I started to turn my hand to decorating which including painting and hanging wallpaper. This developed the DIY love even more that I then branched out into joinery and carpentry.

This is far away from my 9-5 job which is in healthcare. I am also educated to Masters degree level, graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2011.

However, working in healthcare poses  numerous challenges, as does DIY. The experience from healthcare has been a great asset with DIY as it allows me to plan out jobs methodically.

Added to this is the fact that I also enjoy buying and testing products as well as being able to share this information with others. By taking a methodical approach to the testing process, I am able to give you, the reader, the proper information you need to help you make your decision.

My DIY skills include:

  • Tool evaluation
  • Landscaping
  • Painting and decorating
  • Joinery and carpentry

I find all aspects of DIY to be truly enjoyable and it’s something that I also find relaxing as well.
